Students run the college's catering facility, known as the Bell Bar, which provides food and refreshments for staff, students and visitors to the college. Daily tasks include:
- preparing hot and cold food for lunches
- serving drinks and meals
- operating the till
- handling money
- meeting and greeting visitors
- setting tables
- polishing cutlery
... and many more tasks that are associated with working in a catering and hospitality environment.
As well as specific workplace skills, students are also learning about kitchen health & safety, food hygiene and making healthy choices. While serving customers, students are developing their communication and gaining experience in customer service. This enterprise also encompasses many independent living skills, such as washing up, laundry, and vacuuming.
