Meet the Team

At Sense College Loughborough we have a great team who work hard to keep the College going and provide the best support and experience possible for our students.

There are so many important roles at Sense College Loughborough, from Learning Support Assistants and Tutors, to Transitions Coordinators and the Finance Team.

Below, you can meet some of our team members and see what they have to say about life at the College!

Jane - Receptionist

"I have worked as a Receptionist at Sense College Loughborough since 1998, working with all of the staff, students and visitors. It is a very busy environment and being able to help with the daily tasks makes it more than just a job.

My day to day duties include meeting and greeting many of the external visitors to the College, making and receiving calls and directing them to the relevant staff members, and signing for deliveries. I really enjoy working with staff and students who have all kinds of disabilities, and knowing that we are all making a difference to the students' lives.

Everyone at the College works well together, so it's really important to be a team player as well as being very open and embracing the diversity of our students."

Rosie - Speech & Language Therapist

"As a Speech and Language Therapist, I run group sessions where students can practise their communication and social skills, as well as seeing some students on a 1:1 basis.

I promote the college as a Communication Environment and encourage the use of picture symbols and visual aids. I help students that use Alternative and Augmentative Communication such as Communication Books or iPads, and give staff advice on how best to support these students. I am also a Regional Makaton Tutor and promote the use of Makaton signs and symbols throughout the college.

I have been working at the College since 2016, after studying Speech and Language Therapy at university and working as a Speech and Language Therapist in various schools within the East Midlands. I like working in such a supportive environment that encourages the students to reach their potential and become as independent as possible.

The best thing about my job is definitely the students! I love seeing them progress with their communication, and they make me smile."

Vikky - Relationships & Communications Officer

"As part of the Referrals & Admissions Team, I am the first point of contact at the College for many prospective students and their families. I joined the College in March 2019 and immediately felt like I was part of the team, thanks to the friendly and helpful staff and students.

My main role is to support people through the application process, starting by taking them round the College, followed by processing application forms, and helping to arrange assessments. I also help to organise and deliver a number of events at the College, including our regular Visitor Days and Open Days.

My favourite part of this role is the opportunity to meet so many of the wonderful people who visit, whether they are guests at an event, a group from one of our local feeder schools, or a prospective student and their family who are here for a tour of the College."
