Christmas at College

Christmas has definitely arrived at RNIB College Loughborough with lots of festive activities taking place.

On Tuesday 13 December a number of RNIB College learners had a day of carol singing. At lunch time they could be seen in the town centre spreading some Christmas cheer by singing to the busy shoppers as they passed by. In the evening they travelled to a local village to take part in the Christmas Carol Concert.

As well as singing, a group of learners took part in readings telling the story of Christmas Day. One of the College learners even provided the music for the carols by playing the piano and performed a piano solo of the song 'Sleigh Bells'.

On Friday 16 December the College hosted its annual Winter Festival and invited parents, prospective learners and the local community to join in the fun.

Learners have been busy all term perfecting their fabulous Christmas performance 'The Thief of Christmas' which was performed in front of an audience in the College Arts Centre. The performance included a mix of performing arts, film, singing and music. Throughout the term learners have made their own costumes and props and the College even brought in a professional film crew to help learners use the equipment and shoot the film element of the show.

In other areas of the College, hand-made gifts were made and decorated to be sold in the College shop. Gifts included scented soaps, card holders, table decorations, tree decorations, candles, broaches, gift bags and much more.

Staff also joined in by setting up stalls and games in order to raise money for charity. This year we raised a total of £495 for our chosen charity, Help a Capital Child, which helps to support young people in their battle against Cancer.
