RNIB College Loughborough raises funds for Rainbows Hospice

Students organised a cake sale raising money to support the vital work of Rainbows Hospice, the East Midlands' Hospice for Children and Young people. The Hospice is a place where life-limited children and their families can find care and support.

Emily, Charlotte, Andrew and Hussain took up the challenge to manage the event as part of their Personal and Social Development Edexcel qualification. Emily chose to fundraise for the Hospice as she wanted to help local children. Lots of careful planning was undertaken prior to the event to ensure it would run smoothly and raise lots of money.

Students designed and decorated fundraising money boxes as well as promoting the event across the College. Students and staff were encouraged to wear rainbow colours to celebrate the day.

The smell of baking filled the building, enticing everyone to buy the wonderful cakes. The centre piece was a huge multi-coloured cake made by the students to fit with the rainbow theme.

College Principal Tony Warren said 'It was great to see the colourful cake sale after all the hard work the students put in to the event.'

The morning was a great success with the final count coming in at over £75.
