Nineteen Jobcentre Plus staff from across Leicestershire and Northamptonshire came to RNIB College Loughborough to find out about the College's employment programme. The College offers a DWP funded, intensive programme for adults with a disability who are committed to finding employment.

Attendees had the opportunity of a tour of the College, look at the enterprises to see what opportunities there were for those on the programme, visit the accommodation and hear from students about their experiences.

Also during the day students gave an access technology demonstration giving attendees a short overview of different types of equipment available to help students with sight loss and other disabilities in the work place.

Finally College staff talked through the process of getting onto the programme, our placement approach and transitional employment scheme.

The day was a great opportunity both to build links with Jobcentre Plus staff as well as ensure they had an up to date understanding of our programme when deciding who to refer to us.
