Festive Celebrations at RNIB College Loughborough

On Tuesday 9 December RNIB College students held their annual winter celebration. The performance was enjoyed by staff, families and friends along with College Governors and Sally Harvey, Managing Director for RNIB Places.
The theme for this year's performance focussed on the national centenary celebrations for World War One. Students had the opportunity to learn and experience a little bit of history through their performing arts sessions encompassing drama, props and media. Groups were set up for students to undertake different activities in order to complete everything before the big day. This included producing background materials in media, performance props handmade in the arts and crafts group, and rehearsing music and mime. Key aspects of the performance included themed singing, battle mine of the Christmas Truce and audience participation to Christmas classics. A highly anticipated additional cast member was the life sized war horse created by the craft group. Throughout the term the students worked hard to build the paper mache horse up to full size whilst also producing poppies, arm bands, war posters and a medic's stretcher. It was a fantastic event, enjoyed by all.
