RNIB College Loughborough celebrates students’ achievement

The RNIB College Loughborough Award Celebration was opened with students and staff dancing to 80's dance hit Celebration, giving guests a sneak preview of this year's Celebration DVD. This was followed by the official ceremony where students received certificates to recognise their achievements whilst hearing about each student's memorable moments. Students from our Further Education programme received certificates as well as those on our Social Care funded Bridge independence programme and Flexible Futures day time activities. Each year a special Communication Award is awarded in memory of Danny Denny, the College's former braille tutor. This year Jade Knott received the award for her hard work in developing her braille skills. The event closed with students singing Faith of the Heart, before enjoying afternoon tea in the Bell Bar. Acting Principal June Murray said 'It is fantastic to see students' progress and build their independence through their time at College. I was delighted to have the pleasure of handing out the awards and recognise each student's achievement. Thank you to all staff for their hard work and contributions throughout the year.'
