Allotment where RNIB students volunteer, wins an award!

RNIB College Loughborough students were involved in a gardening project at John Storer Charnwood Allotment, which has won a top award. The group achieved a Level 5, Outstanding Award, for Community Participation, Environmental Responsibility and Gardening Achievement, from The Royal Horticultural Society and East Midlands in Bloom. Five students joined the project and others went along as part of their work placement experience. They were able to develop many skills during their time at the allotment, such as; team work, listening and communication. There were opportunities to learn general garden maintenance, as well as potting, repotting and planting shrubs and flowers. Students also got involved in seasonal activities such as making bird feeders, preparing for spring time and harvesting produce.
