RNIB College Loughborough achieves Gold

The College were delighted to hear that they had achieved the Fair Train Work Experience Quality Standard. This is a nationally accredited framework to demonstrate that organisations deliver a comprehensive work experience programme. There are three levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold and the College has been awarded the highest, the Gold Standard.

Fair Train CEO, Beth Gardner said 'Congratulations to RNIB College Loughborough for achieving the Work Experience Quality standard at gold level. It's very rare that an organisation will reach gold straight away, which shows how much the college values high quality work experience. Colleges like RNIB are leading the way in terms of supporting their students to increase their confidence and experience the world of work, whilst at the same time gaining vital skills which employer's value.'

This year the College has had 65 students attend work placements, with 56 different employers. The College currently has over 100 different employment opportunities on their database, which helps to ensure that all students get a relevant work placement, according to their interests.

College Principal, June Murray said 'We know that a personalised and well-planned work experience can make a massive contribution to our student's independence, confidence, skills development and self-esteem. We are very pleased to see this formally recognised.'
