On Saturday 28 September 2019, RNIB College Loughborough opened the doors to the public for the annual Family Open Day. A great opportunity for prospective students to come and have a look around the College, over 30 families came along on the day, totalling 100 visitors.

With activities in each of the College enterprises, guests were able to walk themselves around the College and try their hand at cupcake decorating in the Independent Living Skills Kitchen, create bags in the Craft Studio, make labels in the College Office, take a photo in the Media Hub, and weigh their cupcakes in the eBay Shop.

As well as indoor sports activities for the whole family in the Arts Centre and refreshments served in the Bell Bar, there was plenty for guests to get involved in during their visit. Staff were also on hand to talk to visitors about what the College can offer, including Speech and Language Therapy, Supported Internships, Physiotherapy and the Social Care programme, Flexible Futures.

For guests who were considering a residential placement or respite stays, there was the opportunity to look around the College's accommodation, the Stan Bell Centre. Divided into four flats, the Stan Bell Centre is located just behind the College building and comprises 23 en-suite bedrooms, kitchen/dining rooms in each flat, and a communal TV lounge, games room and large garden area.

Current students also visited on the day, showing their families around the College and taking part in the activities. Visitors enjoyed the opportunity to have a look around the College and have a go in each of the enterprises, saying they felt the College was friendly, fun and relaxed and that staff were helpful and informative.
