Walking in a Winter Wonderland at RNIB College Loughborough

On Wednesday 11 December, parents and carers of current students were invited to RNIB College Loughborough's Winter Performance. Each year, the staff and students work hard to put the festive event together, and this year the College was transformed into a Winter Wonderland.

On arrival, guests were impressed by the wonderful decorations that had been made by students in the Arts and Craft sessions. This changed the College's Reception, Bell Bar and Arts Centre into the Winter Wonderland. Decorations included paper snowflakes and icicles hanging from the ceiling, frosted pinecones around doorways. The Arts Centre featured the College's annual Christmas tree festival; trees created by staff and students at the College.

This year's Winter Performance included a Photo Booth, set up in the College's Media Hub. Visitors had their photos taken in front of the green screen, posing with festive outfits and props. The team in the Media Hub were then able to place a wintery background on the photos, before printing them out for guests.

There were lots of stalls to browse, including a Tombola run by the College Office, a handmade jewellery stall run by one of the College students, a festive bake sale and the Enterprise students' handmade wreath sale.

All students, staff and visitors then gathered in the Arts Centre for a wonderfully festive performance. Weeks of hard work culminated in videos, songs and live performances, including a Christmas Hakka, a re-enactment of Home Alone at RNIB College Loughborough, a Caribbean Feliz Navidad, and a visit from the Polar Express!

Guests commented that they had enjoyed the afternoon and were pleased to see how happy and confident all the students were. College Principal, June Murray, concluded the event by thanking everyone for coming to watch the performance, and thanking the staff and students for all their hard work on the Winter Wonderland.
