Admissions Process

The Admissions Process

We recommend that anyone interested in a programme at Sense College Loughborough arranges to visit the college before submitting an application.

If you decide that you would like to apply, you can request an application form at your visit, download a copy from the website, or ask for a copy to be sent to you.

For Further Education

Once our admissions team receive your completed application form they will send you a letter of confirmation and request additional information including any medical needs, statements, school reports and transition plans. They will also make contact with your school to request supporting information.

Part of the college's pre-admissions process requires you to attend the college for an assessment. As part of the assessment you will spend time with staff members and join in with college activities. This is so that we can get to know more about you and ensure that we can provide the right support to meet your needs.

Shortly after your assessment you will be contacted to confirm whether or not the college can offer you a place. This offer is subject to funding being acquired from your Local Authority.

Funding decisions are made by the local authority and procedures can differ slightly between counties. You should receive a letter advising you if funding has been agreed.

If you are applying for transport to the college, your Local Authority will write to you regarding their application process and any deadlines you need to be aware of. Please be mindful of their deadlines, as they may not be able to guarantee transport will be in place for the start of term.

You will receive a full Welcome Pack from the college during the summer before your course starts at the beginning of September.

For Social Services Programmes

If you would like to apply for the Flexible Futures programme at the same time as your Further Education programme, please let our Admissions Team know.

Where possible, we will assess you for both programmes at the same time. If we do not have availability on Flexible Futures, you will be added to a waiting list. We will then contact you when a space becomes available, usually after you have started your Further Education programme.

If we are able to offer you a place on Flexible Futures, we will prepare a quotation which will be sent to you and your social worker. Please ensure you provide us with your social worker's contact details so that we can move forward with this process.

Once you have received confirmation of funding, please contact the college to discuss a suitable programme start date.
