Education Support Worker

We're currently recruiting Education Support Workers to join our team at our Sense College in Loughborough working up to 35 hours per week for 38 weeks of the year. The role is to prepare students appropriately for the many possible transitions into adulthood, working closely with them to achieve outcomes of their Education, Health and Care Plans.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Keeping the needs of the learners at the centre of your attention at all times.
  • Enabling learners to influence their services and the way they are supported.
  • Helping Sense to provide a high quality education experience.
  • Supporting people with their personal care.

About you

  • Previous experience of working with people who have a sensory impairment, autism or learning disability would be an advantage, as would knowledge of BSL, Makaton or other methods of communication however, training will be provided.
  • It is essential that you are able to work effectively as part of a team whilst demonstrating your own initiative. You will have had experience of person centred planning, keeping records up to date and providing personal care.
  • Level 2 (or equivalent) in English and Maths is an essential requirement for this role.

Learning Technology Coordinator

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Learning Technology Coordinator.

The successful applicant will deliver a sector leading assistive technology service to students at Sense College Loughborough. You will be will liaising closely with managers, tutors and other relevant staff and students to identify learning technology and telecommunication needs and plan and implement solutions as well as supporting and developing special access technology in both the classroom and the wider environment.

Key responsibilities

  • To ensure that support is delivered in accordance with IT policies and college procedures and priorities
  • To undertake assistive technology assessments in conjunction with educational, therapy and communication staff
  • To support learning through the effective use of IT; this could include setting up special access equipment for use in various environments
  • To train and support students and staff in the use of specialist equipment and software
  • To support staff in: developing computer based learning materials which support individual student's needs and adapting technology for use by specific students

About you

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to communicate with stakeholders in a clear, meaningful and effective way.
  • Ability to be flexible, respond positively to change, and work effectively under pressure and deal with conflicting priorities.
  • Evidence of technical skills in information technology and preferably assistive technology.
  • Experience of working in an educational context to train or support students or other staff.

Salary: £29,250 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
