Learners visit Windermere

Over the past 3 days it's been a little quieter than normal around the College as a large number of learners went on a trip to Windermere in Cumbria. They set off just after 8am on Saturday morning and arrived by lunchtime despite the snow showers on the way! Their destination was The Windermere Manor Hotel, a beautiful country house situated on the lakeside and managed by Action for Blind People.

The weather may have been dreary but not a minute was wasted and the days have been spent doing countless activities including swimming, shopping, crafts and painting. The highlight of the trip was a day spent at the YMCA National Centre Lakeside – One of the largest outdoor activity centres in Europe! Here the learners had a go at everything from abseiling and wall climbing to archery and canoeing. In between all this action they also managed to squeeze in visits to the local towns of Bowness and Ambleside and even went on a tour around Beatrix Potter's famous house!

In the evenings the pace still didn't slow with a range of great entertainment including a disco, a karaoke contest, a talent competition (entered by staff as well as learners), an Abba tribute band and Bingo!

After all that action a well-earned rest can now be enjoyed over the half term break giving everyone the chance to relax and come back ready to start again on February 28. There's not long to wait for the next trip though as another group of learners are set to go to Windermere in March!
