RNIB College Loughborough is looking for a new Governor to advise and support its care and education of people with disabilities.

Being a governor at the College is a rewarding role; you will get to experience our remarkable atmosphere and contribute to making life better for vulnerable people through learning.

The College supports young people aged 16 - 25 and adults of working age who are blind, partially sighted and / or have other disabilities such as autism or learning or mobility disabilities.

The main aim of the College is to prepare people for a fulfilling adult life by: progression to employment or voluntary activity, an independent life-style at home and developing hobbies and interests as part of healthy, sociable living. We partner over 100 employers to provide work placements and other opportunities for students to develop their skills. Organisations include: Boots Plc, Walkers Snack Foods, Next, Leicestershire County Council, Leicestershire Constabulary, Fisher Scientific UK, Sue Ryder Care, Imago Services, Cancer Research, British Heart Foundation and Charnwood Borough Council.

The College is very highly regarded by Ofsted inspectors and has received many other awards for quality. It recruits from all over the UK and has to cover its costs from income earned. Turnover is £3.1 million per year.

College Principal, Tony Warren, said: "We are a caring educational body that has to operate in a efficient business-like way. We are looking for people with expertise and contacts to help us."

On this occasion the College is particularly looking for a governor with experience of leadership in medium-sized or large organisations in the public, private or voluntary sector.
