The bunting went up around RNIB College Loughborough as learners took to the College courtyard for their very own Jubilee street party.

Between 12.00 – 1.00 on Wednesday 30 May, learners organised a street party to take place in the College grounds to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. They prepared a great British buffet, complete with cucumber sandwiches, jelly and ice-cream and sausage rolls as well as Jubilee inspired cakes and biscuits. Learners working in the College's Arts Centre enterprise took charge of the decorations, making bunting and paper-chains in the traditional red, white and blue.

After everyone had enjoyed the buffet, the real party got underway, with everyone out of their seats and waving their flags to a mix of patriotic and popular songs from British artists. There was even a conga line around the building!

This term our curriculum is based on celebration of achievement, and what better achievement to celebrate than the Queen being 60 years on the throne. All the food and decorations were made and prepared by College learners, it was their event and they all did a fantastic job!" Diane Beresford, Programme Leader Curriculum).
