Lynne Denny presents Danny Denny Communication Award to Guillermo Romero

Guillermo Romero was awarded the Danny Denny Communication Award for his outstanding progress in reading and writing braille. Guillermo was nominated for the award by Teresa Cubitt, braille teacher. She commended Guillermo for the determination and commitment he has shown to learning braille since joining the College in September 2012.

The award is in memory of Danny Denny the former braille tutor at the College, who passed away in 2008 and had taught at the College since 1989. It is in recognition of the student who has shown outstanding development of their communication skills, and is presented annually by Lynne Denny, Danny's widow.

June Murray, who led the award giving, felt that Danny would have been delighted to see Guillermo winning the award. Danny was passionate about braille and many College students over the years benefitted from his dedication and enthusiasm. He would also be very pleased that Teresa has taken over where he left off, ensuring that braille teaching is still a vital part of the College curriculum.
