RNIB Family Open Day fun

RNIB College Loughborough opened its doors on Saturday 4 October for the annual Family Open Day, giving current and prospective families the opportunity to experience what we have to offer our students.

Activities involved t-shirt painting, fairy cake icing, weighing, measuring and photography in our eBay business, book mark making in the College Office and note card decorating in our Craft Studio. Visitors were also able to meet with our Governors and share with them their experiences of the College and staff were on hand to answers questions about our approach to learning and the support we offer students.

Nicky Morgan, MP for Loughborough visited the College and had a go at creating a note card with the Big Shot machine. This crafty piece of equipment enables students of all different abilities to make beautiful shapes.

We opened up our residential accommodation, The Stan Bell Centre, where visitors had the opportunity to meet staff, tour the venue and enjoy twisted pizza slices freshly made by students during an independent living session. The Stan Bell Centre accommodates students studying at RNIB College Loughborough, but also offers respite, overnight stays and the Bridge programme, our package to move young adults closer to independence.

We hope everyone that attended had a fun and informative day. If you were unable to attend but are interested in one of our programmes please contact the Referrals and Admissions team on 01509 631220 to arrange a visit.
