D of E students receive First Aid certificates!

This academic year, Sense College Loughborough has introduced the Duke of Edinburgh Award to the curriculum. Starting with the Bronze Award, students will have the opportunity to explore and develop a range of skills that will help to build their confidence and self-reliance.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is split into four sections; volunteering, skill, physical activity and expedition. So far this year, our group of seven students have focussed on team building and problem solving, and have started volunteering in some of the college enterprises.

At the beginning of this term, students received their very well-deserved certificates in First Aid for Youth. To achieve these, they have learnt how to perform CPR, the recovery position, what to do in case of a bleed or broken bone, and how to make an emergency plan. Following their training, D of E Leader Jim says: "I am confident that given a situation, they could be in a position to save a life".

Well done to all of our students on their hard work so far and good luck for the rest of your Bronze Award!
