Vocational Pathway
In-house programme
If you are considering going into work or studying a mainstream course, our Vocational pathway will prepare you for your next steps. For those studying at Entry Level 3 and above, this in-house programme can offer a combination of work experience, taster sessions at Loughborough College, qualifications, and work skills development.
Support into Mainstream College
Sense College Loughborough has worked in partnership with mainstream Loughborough College for 30 years. We share a campus and this unique relationship allows our students to access mainstream programmes with specialist support.
Loughborough College has a wide range of academic and vocational programmes available starting from Foundation Levels. Our timetables are flexible, allowing students the opportunity to develop other essential life skills alongside a qualification.
Programmes available are subject to change, and entry is based on your existing qualifications.
Students have a dedicated tutor to support their studies and liaise with subject tutors. They also discuss progress and agree on targets at regular meetings.
Dedicated learning support can assist students in and out of class for example with learning assistance, note-taking in lessons, support in reading class material and mobility support to and from lessons.
Work experience
Where possible, we will set up a work placement for you to increase your work experience in an area that interests you. Work placements are a great way to experience a different team environment. Depending on your aspirations and availability, this might be inside Sense College, or with an external employer.
Alongside your work placement, we will work with you to develop your employability skills, offer careers advice, and support you to write your CV and apply for jobs.
Skills development
On your timetable, you will have allocated sessions with our literacy, numeracy and IT tutors. You will build on your existing skills and work towards qualifications in these areas.
You will also have the opportunity to achieve NOCN qualifications in Employability Skills focusing on teamwork.
You will spend time in some of the College Enterprises where you will learn about health and fitness, develop your computer skills, and work with other students as part of a team.
Transitions
We can support you with what you want to do next as you finish at college. Our focus is to help you achieve your long-term goals and prepare for your future. We'll tailor our support, advice and guidance according to your interests, abilities and aspirations.
